Freeze warning and watch

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning until 9 a.m. today for the Indiana counties of Adams, Allen, Blackford, Cass, DeKalb, Elkhart, Fulton, Grant, Huntington, Jay, Kosciusko, LaPorte, LaGrange, Marshall, Miami, Noble, Pulaski, St. Joseph, Starke, Steuben, Wabash, Wells, White and Whitley

A freeze watch remains in effect for these counties from late tonight through Saturday morning.

Subfreezing temperatures are expected this morning. Cool high pressure will build southward out of Canada today. Clear skies will prevail with winds becoming light overnight. This allows ideal radiational cooling with subfreezing temperatures in the upper 20s and lower 30s tonight.

Freezing temperatures are possible again late Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Budding trees and blooming plants are susceptible to damage with subfreezing temperatures.

A freeze warning means that subfreezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These temperatures will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.
