Rookie quarterback Chandler Harnish came to terms Wednesday on a contract with the Indianapolis Colts, even as he fights a knee problem.
Harnish, a Norwell High School standout, was the 253rd and last pick, "Mr. Irrelevant," in the NFL Draft after a record-setting year at Northern Illinois.
Harnish competed in the Colts rookie mini camp, but injured his left knee during organized team activities this week and will miss some time in the Colts' organized team activities, Colts coach Chuck Pagano said.
"He tweaked his knee a little bit in a training session," Pagano said. "They did some evaluations on it. It's nothing serious. He's got a sprain. We'll err on the side of caution and hold him back. He might miss a couple three weeks, we're not sure."
Harnish wore a black wrap on his leg during the Colts workouts on Wednesday. Drew Stanton and Trevor Vittatoe handled the quarterback duties. Top draft pick Andrew Luck is at Stanford University finishing up his final semester. He expects to rejoin the team in June.
The Colts also announced they signed contracts with three other draft picks: running back Vick Ballard, wide receiver LaVon Brazill and outside linebacker Tim Fugger. Terms of the rookies' contracts were not released.
