The Indianapolis Colts traded fullback Chris Gronkowski to the Denver Broncos for third-year cornerback Cassius Vaughn.
Vaughn (5-foot-11, 195 pounds) has started three games, played in 22 games and recorded one interception, three fumble recoveries and a kickoff return touchdown. He played for the University of Mississippi before joining the Broncos as an undrafted free agent.
“Cassius is a young cornerback who brings game experience at his position, proven kickoff return ability and pure speed to the Colts,” Colts general manager Ryan Grigson said. “He's a player who can really run and when you turn on the film you instantly recognize his athletic ability and speed. He's a guy who has not hit his ceiling as a player yet and we saw some really encouraging things on tape that led us to the trade. I think it's a win-win for both clubs because the Broncos are getting a quality football player, person and a heck of a fullback in Chris Gronkowski.”
In other player moves, the Colts signed outside linebacker Jerry Brown and waived outside linebacker Brandon Peguese.
Brown (6-4, 253) played in the Arena Football League last season. He played for the University of Illinois and has also played in the Canadian Football League.
