KNOX — An inmate who escaped from a northern Indiana jail has turned himself in to authorities.

WSBT-TV reports that Joshua Hunnicutt surrendered to police shortly before 1 p.m. Sunday. Hunnicutt had escaped Wednesday from the Starke County Jail in Knox, about 30 miles southwest of South Bend.

Police say Hunnicutt told them he realized he had made a poor decision and eventually would be caught.

He is being held in the Starke County Jail on his original charges of possession of methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance, along with an additional charge of escape.

The prosecutor's office will review the case and determine whether to file any additional charges.
