Ohioan charged after sibling stabbed at bar

A Van Wert man stabbed his brother in the neck and put him in critical condition early Wednesday, Van Wert police said.

Caleb S. Mech, 26, called 911 just after 2:30 a.m. to report that his brother, Isaac M. Mech, had been stabbed behind CJ’s Side Pockets, a pool hall in Van Wert, police said.

Medics treated Isaac Mech, 22, for a stab wound to his neck. He was taken to Van Wert County Hospital and then flown to Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. An update on his condition was not available Wednesday night.

Caleb Mech admitted to the stabbing, police said.

He was charged with felonious assault and held at the Van Wert County Jail.
