ELKHART — Northern Indiana police are investigating the death of a 5-year-old girl whose body was found in an Elkhart County home.

WSBT-TV reports that police and medics were called to the home about 9 a.m. Sunday after the child was found unconscious in the home. Police said the girl's parents made the emergency call to 911.

Lieutenant Travis Adamson of the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department says foul play isn't believed to have been involved, but the county coroner will be conducting a full investigation.

Adamson tells WSBT-TV it appears the unidentified girl had a long history of medical issues or previous injuries that led to a health condition which may have contributed to her death.
