LAFAYETTE — Police in Lafayette have arrested a state prison inmate who authorities say walked away from a work crew at a minimum-security facility in central Indiana.

Department of Correction spokesman Doug Garrison said Tuesday that 31-year-old Jacob Aflleje was caught by Lafayette police. Aflleje was reported missing Monday afternoon from the Edinburgh Correctional Facility at Camp Atterbury.

Lafayette police tell WLFI-TV that Aflleje was caught late Monday leaving the back door of the Macy's department store at Tippecanoe Mall. He was jailed on preliminary counts of burglary and other charges.

Aflleje was serving a 10-year prison sentence for arson out of Morgan County and was due to be released July 7.
