A driver was hospitalized with head and leg injuries after a four-vehicle crash Wednesday in Steuben County, according to the sheriff’s department.
April Bobay, 22, of Phenix City, Ala., was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Her condition was not available late Wednesday, hospital staff said.
Bobay was driving a 2011 Nissan passenger car west on County Road 200 North as she approached County Road 200 West, the sheriff’s department said. In the intersection, a southbound 2006 Chrysler Pacifica hit the Nissan’s passenger side. The Chrysler, driven by Julie Thompson, 41, of LaGrange, had the right of way, the department said.
The collision sent the Nissan off the road into a ditch. The Chrysler also left the road and struck two vehicles stopped at a stop sign on Crooked Lake Lane 101. The two vehicles were a 2002 Dodge Stratus driven by Scott Wooster, 27, of Angola, and a 2001 Ford passenger car driven by Ahmed Awad K. Alrashedi, 29, police said.
Firefighters and sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the scene at 5:40 p.m. They freed Bobay from her car, and she was flown to the hospital. No other injuries were reported.
The crash is under investigation.
