A Fort Wayne native had an impressive performance at the U.S. Track and Field Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon on Friday. However, Alissa McKaig failed to qualify for the London Games later this summer.

The Concordia Lutheran High School graduate and former Indiana Tech national champion placed 11th after holding a spot among the leaders for much of the race.

McKaig ran the 6.2-mile race in 32 minutes, 31 seconds in a field of 22 finishers.

The race was won by Amy Hastings in 31:58. McKaig ran in the lead pack of 7-8 runners until late in the 25-lap race.
