Manner of May 26 death remains mystery, coroner finds

The Allen County Coroner's Office said it could not determine the manner of death in a shooting death of a Fort Wayne last month after he was found suffering from a gunshot wound or wounds.

Police were sent to the house at 2516 Lafayette St., south of East Creighton Avenue, on May 26. A woman told 911 dispatchers that she came home and found Joshua E. Frisby, her housemate, unconscious.

When medics arrived, Frisby had what looked like a gunshot wound and they declared him dead, police said.

In a statement Monday, the coroner's office said the cause of Frisby's death was gunshot wound or wounds.

The manner of death is undetermined because there was not enough evidence to support another manner of death, such as homicide, suicide or natural causes.

Police did not find a gun at the scene, leading them to believe the death was not a homicide.
