Drug suspect collared after fleeing, car crash

A Fort Wayne man was charged Monday with a pair of felonies after he was seen at a suspected drug house last week and then led police on a chase where he hit multiple vehicles.

Police were conducting surveillance at a house June 19 when Antonio L. Freeling, 30, of the 300 block of Burns Street, drove up in a bronze Nissan, according to a probable cause affidavit.

When Freeling left, police followed, noticed his registration was expired and tried to pull him over near Broadway and Parkview Avenue.

Freeling didn’t stop for police and reached speeds up to 75 mph, court papers said. While trying to evade police, he hit two vehicles, disregarded several stoplights and after driving about four miles, he hit a tree.

Freeling then took off running, police said, but a K-9 officer caught him.

After Freeling got out of the police car, they found a bag containing less than 0.06 ounce of cocaine, court papers said.

Freeling is being held without bail on felony charges of possession of cocaine, resisting law enforcement and misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement, operating without a license and two counts of failure to stop after an accident.
