A woman accused of causing a crash that left two people dead was back in court Tuesday morning for a hearing.

Corina Hurtado, 50, was charged in the May 8 fatal crash and faces two murder charges and 10 lesser charges, including six felonies for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.

Court documents allege Hurtado knew her actions could severely hurt or kill someone when her Ford F-250 crashed into a minivan, killing 79-year-old Harold Bebout and leaving his 74-year-old wife, Starr, in serious condition. Starr Bebout later died from her injuries.

Hurtado's trial has been moved to Nov. 27 with a pretrial conference set for Sept. 24. Hurtado's attorney was requesting that bond be set for his client so she could have the opportunity to spend time with her husband and four children. But the prosecution requested no bond because they view Hurtado as a flight risk; if convicted of murder, she could spend the rest of her life in prison.

Hurtado's pickup is to be inspected as her attorney had raised the issue that something was wrong with the vehicle when the accident occurred.

Allen Superior Court Judge John Surbeck Jr. told both the prosecution and the defense that they must have their witnesses lined up before the trial. There will be no continuances because the trial has been scheduled so far out on the calendar, he said.
