Fourth of July events

The following is a list of events scheduled throughout northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio for the Independence Day holiday. Because of the extreme weather conditions, drought, and burn bans throughout northeast Indiana, fireworks shows could be canceled at any time.

Indiana

Adams County

Decatur: At 6 p.m. Wednesday there will be music playing until 8:15 p.m. when a welcoming ceremony will begin behind Riverside Center. Fireworks will follow at dark.

Allen County

Fort Wayne: Fireworks on Wednesday at IPFW. Parking is free throughout most of the campus; however, it costs $5 to park at Parking Garage 1. Show starts at dusk. The Fort Wayne TinCaps game begins at 7:05 p.m. at Parkview Field with fireworks to follow. A ticket is required for the game.

DeKalb County

Auburn: Usually sponsored by Auburn Kiwanis Club but were canceled because of the drought.

Garrett: Garrett Heritage Days will run Wednesday at Eastside Park. The event features live music, car shows, a pageant and other festivities. Fireworks canceled.

Huntington County

Huntington: Fireworks at dusk Wednesday at Huntington North High School

Roanoke: Fireworks at dusk Wednesday Roanoke Park on Seminary Street

Kosciusko County

Syracuse: Fireworks at dusk Wednesday at Syracuse Lake

Noble County

Kendallville: Fireworks have been postponed until a later date, which has not been set, but other festivities will continue Wednesday at Bixler Lake.

Rome City: Fireworks scheduled for July 7 have been postponed until Sept. 1 with a rain date of Sept. 2.

Steuben County

Angola: Parade begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Fireworks at dusk in Commons Park.

Lake James: Annual fireworks show is at 10 p.m. July 7 from the lake’s lower basin. View the fireworks from Pokagon State Park for a $5 park entry fee, per vehicle. Angola Boy Scouts Troop 125 will sell refreshments.

Wells County

Bluffton: Fireworks begin at 10 p.m. Wednesday. Possible places to watch include the top row of the grandstand at Fred F. Park Field at the middle school or from blankets and lawn chairs on the football practice field just east of the grandstand area. Parking along Harrison, Spring, Stogdill and Wayne streets in the area is prohibited.

Whitley County

Columbia City: Fireworks have been postponed until a date to be determined.
