1 killed, 5 wounded after fight in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Police say a woman was killed and five people wounded from gunfire after a group of women gathered for a fight at a youth sports complex on the west side of Indianapolis.

Officers found three women in their early 20s wounded at the scene about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday and they were taken to a hospital in serious to critical condition.

Other officers were called to a neighborhood a couple miles away where a woman was found dead inside a vehicle and a 21-year-old man was wounded in the leg. Police say another man checked himself into a nearby hospital with hand and foot wounds.

Police Sgt. Linda Jackson says several people fleeing from near the Ben Davis youth sports park were detained as detectives investigated the shooting.
