A North Webster man was in serious condition this morning in a Fort Wayne hospital after being stabbed several times sometime before 1 a.m. Friday.
According to Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department detectives, Travis Ray Osbun, 33, had apparently gotten into a domestic argument with his girlfriend and went to a home south of Webster Lake on North County Road 850 East to "cool" off.
His host, Billy Joe Pearson, 19, of the 4400 block of North County Road 850 East, had allegedly become tired of Osbun during the evening and asked him to leave, according to a written statement issued by the sheriff's department.
According to initial information given to police, Osbun refused to leave at which point Pearson apparently began stabbing him in the stomach and chest.
The Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office preliminarily charges Pearson with felony aggravated battery. A bond had not been set as of 10 a.m. Friday.
The sheriff's department received several calls from Pearson's neighbors shortly before 1 a.m., as Osbun went door to door seeking aid, then taking off when the residents called 911, the statement said.
County officers and a Warsaw Police Department canine officer were able to locate Osbun on East Huntington Street in North Webster near his vehicle, the statement said.
He was immediately transported to the Fort Wayne hospital in serious condition, the sheriff's department said. Pearson was arrested at his residence.
