We all know Fort Wayne is a great city. It's nice to know its appeal is obvious to visitors, too.

In July 2010, Caleb Storey, a resident of northern Kentucky, attended Ikasucon, an anime convention held downtown at the Grand Wayne Convention Center.

According to Storey, he fell in love with the city during his visit. “I not only met great people from Fort Wayne, but toured the Embassy Theatre and heard about the city's efforts to band together to save it,” he said.

Storey also attended Ikasucon in 2011 in Fort Wayne. During that convention, Storey met fellow attendee and musician Eric Stuart, a Brooklyn, N.Y., resident now residing in Nashville, Tenn. The two became friends and kept in contact after the convention concluded.

During his visits to Fort Wayne, Storey had heard stories about good work being done at Lutheran Children's Hospital to aid local children. Storey, who has a background as a child-care worker (he has worked as an early-childhood teacher, camp counselor and nanny), realized he wanted to do something to help the people of Fort Wayne.

Thinking a concert might be a popular fundraiser, Storey, who also has experience as an event planner, contacted Stuart and asked him to headline a benefit concert for Lutheran Children's Hospital.

Stuart agreed, as did officials at the hospital.

The concert entitled, “Rock & Roll Medicine Show,” was to be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Embassy Theatre. It since has been moved to 7 p.m. at the University of Saint Francis Performing Arts Center, 431 W. Berry St.

In addition to Eric Stuart's Band, which also is from New York state, performers will include the bands Electric Attitude from Houston and SUM MORZ from Fort Wayne. A portion of proceeds from the concert will be donated to the hospital.
