Purdue men's basketball player Dru Anthrop was recognized for his efforts in the classroom with a national honor on Tuesday.

The senior guard was named to the 2011-12 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.

In order to earn a spot on the Honors Court, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academically and own a cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 or higher at an NCAA Division I, II, III or NAIA institution.

A two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, Anthrop is one of just six Big Ten players to be recognized on the 2011-12 Honors Court.

The Lafayette Central Catholic High School graduate has appeared in 29-career games for the Boilermakers, and owns averages 0.5 points and 0.5 rebounds per contest.

Anthrop and his father, John, are the only father/son combo in Purdue basketball history to have both won Big Ten titles as players. Dru was part of the Boilers' 2010 title team, while the elder Anthrop was a member of the 1979 championship squad.
