The bridge, more specifically, the MLK Bridge: Looks nice. Seems to be well constructed. Nice sentiment. But what is the monthly maintenance cost (light bulbs, electricity, labor) and could that cost be better spent (street repairs, weed removal, street cleaning)?

Jeers to … (a local national store chain) for not prepping their stores with functioning generators. I went to … (one of their local) stores on June 29, only to find the store was closed due to the storm. This puzzles me, as I've seen massive generators at the back of the building, which should have been more than enough to keep the store functional.

Who … messed up the stoplights on Lima Road? Try setting them so traffic can go the whole distance with out stopping. It's known as “ATF” (awesome traffic flow).

I have read a few letters to the editor… . Some people do not get it yet. The burn ban does not stop you from using your gas grill. It says no open burning, which means no bonfires or pit fires (camp fires).

… (A local TV station's news) reported that, during the (July 4 water) main break for Aqua Indiana, the customers said they had trouble with water pressure. I am a City Utilities customer, and my street has had over 10 repairs made in the past four years. Each time my water was shut off for the repair, (and) each time it took awhile for the water pressure to come back.

The health-care act was passed by Congress, not by President Obama. At least now everyone will have to pay some of the costs of their care. Love thy neighbor as thy self. Always thought the Republicans were the conservative, caring ones. Have never seen such disrespect for a duly elected president.

Yeah, there is nothing wrong with Marxism and socialism. But why do people keep leaving Cuba and other countries that have those systems?

Happy 4th of July ... and a 30-cent raise in gas prices!

We really miss Corinne Rose's “Noon Extra.” It was super informative, and she is so personable. Her replacements are not nearly as good. We refuse to watch “Insight.” Is the station listening to its viewers? I bet ratings have taken a nose dive

Did we not end the concerns and bigotry about a presidential candidate’s religion when President John F. Kennedy was elected?

Had a drive test scheduled on Saturday (second one). Arrived at BMV. Lights were on, but they had no computers! Really? For a drive test, I was told to reschedule. What did they do before computers? Used paper.
