Donnelly looks to build name in Indiana Senate race

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana Democratic Senate candidate Joe Donnelly is spending early to help build his name recognition with a new television ad.

The third-term congressman touts his work with Republicans in the commercial and accuses Republican candidate Richard Mourdock of yelling "It's my way or the highway" from the sidelines. The Donnelly campaign is spending $163,000 on the spot which began airing Wednesday statewide and will run through Sunday.

The spot comes as the U.S. House is set for a Republican-sought symbolic vote on repeal of the federal health care law. The Mourdock campaign has pushed the question of how Donnelly will vote on the repeal for the last few weeks.

A Donnelly spokeswoman said the release of the ad is not timed to distract from the health care vote.
