New Haven Mayor Terry McDonald is asking residents whose property was damaged by recent storms to file a report with the Indiana Department of Homeland Security and to photograph the damage. Such documentation will be important, McDonald said, as the city seeks federal disaster assistance.

The city will remove debris taken to the curb and debris from trees between the curb and sidewalk. Debris can also be taken to the Utility Shop at 2455 Summit St. or to the Lake Avenue bio-recycling facility near Lake and Maplecrest.

McDonald also cautioned residents to investigate contractors before hiring them to do repairs or clean up.

To report damage to the state, go to www.in.gov/dhs
