The wife of a former St. Joseph Hospital executive was one of two people killed in a crash Wednesday morning southwest of Fort Wayne.
Marjorie S. Abramowski, 72, of Fort Wayne, was pronounced dead after her car collided with another car on Homestead Road between Ernst and Branning roads, according to the Allen County Coroner's Office.
A family member, Pamela Meissner, confirmed Wednesday that Abramowski was married to Stanley Abramowski, who led St. Joseph Hospital during the mid- to late 80s. Archived News-Sentinel reports from 1985 and 1987 name Stanley Abramowski as the hospital's director.
A man who also died in the crash was not identified Wednesday afternoon. Police do not believe the man was wearing a seat belt; Abramowski was wearing one, according to the coroner's office.
According to online records, Marjorie Abramowski was an accredited social worker, but Meissner declined to speak further about her career or family.
Allen County Sheriff's Department spokesman Jeremy Tinkel said in a statement that the two cars collided head on after the unidentified man's Honda Accord allegedly crossed the center line. No passengers were in either car, Tinkel said.
Abramowski is the 22nd traffic fatality for Fort Wayne and Allen County in 2012, and the unidentified driver is the 23rd. The crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff's department and the coroner's office.
