INDIANAPOLIS – This year’s Super Bowl was such a success in Indianapolis that the city will try to bring it back.
Saying “let’s do it again,” Mayor Greg Ballard announced Wednesday that the city would make a bid for the 2018 Super Bowl.
Ballard said the NFL won’t pick the host city for that game until 2014, but that he’s encouraged by the response to this year’s game.
Super Bowl host committee president Allison Melangton said a review found that 99 percent of media mentions about Indianapolis surrounding the Super Bowl were positive.
Organizers said they aren’t overly optimistic from the sunny days with temperatures in the 50s that the city had for Super Bowl week in early February. They believe large crowds would have come in colder weather, too.
