GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) — The Gerald R. Ford International Airport in Grand Rapids will receive about $5.5 million in grants.

MLive.com (http://bit.ly/N30gVc ) reports that the money will be used on projects that include the expansion of an airport concourse and environmental assessment for a storm water system.

Airport administrators voted Tuesday to accept the local, state and federal grants.

Facilities director Thomas Ecklund says the airport will "go ahead and pay the contractors since they've already started."

He says the Federal Aviation Administration and Michigan Department of Transportation will be notified once the projects are finished and that it takes about 30 days for the money to be reimbursed.
