Extra-hot ghost peppers now haunt 2 Red Robin burgers

Ever heard of the ghost pepper? At 300 times hotter than a jalapeno, it's considered one of the world's hottest peppers.

And now Red Robin restaurants (the one in Fort Wayne is at Glenbrook Square) is using the ghost pepper on two burgers:

•The Fiery Ghost, featuring ghost pepper sauce, jalapenos and pepper jack cheese

•The Cry Baby, featuring onion straws tossed in Sriracha dry seasoning with onions sautéed in Cholula hot sauce, pepper jack cheese and ghost pepper catsup.

DeBrand celebrates a milestone

DeBrand Fine Chocolates is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and we get the gift.

On Wednesday, DeBrand is offering a 25 percent discount on all ice cream sundaes and gelato purchases.

Store hours and locations on Wednesday are: 7 a.m.-9 p.m., 10105 Auburn Park Drive; 10 a.m.-9 p.m., 5608 Coldwater Road; and 10 a.m.-9 p.m., Jefferson Pointe shopping center.

Try African food

Saint Augustine Lutheran Church, the African Immigrant Social and Economic Development Agency, and the African Community invite the public to their annual African Food Festival, noon-5 p.m. Saturday at Saint Augustine Lutheran Church, 3316 S. Calhoun St. Enjoy free food, and a taste of African culture.

Salvatori’s west opens on Ill. Road

Salvatori's, which has a restaurant in New Haven, has opened a second eatery at 10337 Illinois Road.

It's bigger than the New Haven restaurant, and has a full-service bar and private meeting room.

Hours: 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday-Friday; 3-10 p.m. Saturdays; closed Sundays.

Italian ice

Wise Guys Ice has opened at 10360 Leo Road in Leo Crossing, serving authentic Italian ice. It's fat free, cholesterol free and non-dairy, and some flavors are sugar-free.

Hours: 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Friday-Saturday; and noon-8 p.m. Sunday. Phone: 310-3700.

Joseph Decuis lunch is Saturday

This Saturday, Joseph Decuis, 191 N. Main St., Roanoke, will host a vineyard four-course lunch featuring the wine and cuisine of Spain. $45 per person; reservations required. Call 672-1715.

Also, the Joseph Decuis Emporium, just a few doors down from the restaurant, is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday, with the grill open for lunch 11 a.m.-3 p.m. So you can go there to have lunch, and then shop for Wagyu beef raised nearby on the Joseph Decuis farm, as well as chicken, duck and pork from Gunthorp Farm in Lagrange. Wine can be purchased from the Emporium, too.

Cocktail tasting

Belmont Beverage at The Shoppes of Scott Road, 10311 Illinois Road, is hosting a Cocktail Favorites Tasting Event 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Farmers market

The nearby town of Hicksville, Ohio, has a farmers market 7:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays and 3-7 p.m. Fridays at 111 S. Main St., Hicksville.
