Officers from Kosciusko County converged Friday night on Mentone to conduct a DUI sobriety checkpoint.
The checkpoint was in the parking lot of the Lake City Bank of Mentone and resulted in several arrests, including one individual with a bond total of $125,000. Demario Maurice Loston, 35, of Warsaw, was arrested on outstanding warrants issued by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office, according to a news release. Loston's original charges were felony domestic battery, battery with bodily injury, residential entry and failure to appear.
Cyrus Benjamin Withers, 24, of Rochester, was arrested and preliminarily charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance, according to the release. Withers is being held on a $2,000 bond by the Kosciusko County Prosecutor's Office.
Officers documented 146 vehicles entering into the sobriety checkpoint, which was operated 10 p.m.-2 a.m.
Officers involved in the operation were from the Kosciusko County Traffic Safety Partnership: Warsaw Police Department, Winona Lake Police Department, North Webster Police Department, Syracuse Police Department, Milford Police Department, Mentone Police Department, Claypool Police Department, Silver Lake Police Department and the Kosciusko County Sheriff's Department.
