Off-road vehicle rolls over, hurts Hamilton driver

A Hamilton man was injured early Sunday when he rolled his off-road vehicle, according to a report from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources.

Tyrone Kumler, 51, left downtown Hamilton about 2:30 a.m. in his Polaris Ranger with a female passenger, traveling west on Bellefountain Road, the report said. He attempted to turn right onto Woodard Street but turned too early, driving onto the sidewalk and striking a street lamp post. The Polaris rolled onto the driver's side, crushing Kumler's leg under the vehicle, the report said.

Kumler was taken to Cameron Memorial Hospital, then transferred to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne, where he was treated for severe leg and head injuries, the report said. His passender was not injured.

Conservation officers said alcohol was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, the report said.

Conservation officers were assisted at the scene by Steuben County EMS, Hamilton Fire Department, Hamilton Police Department and the Steuben County Sheriff's Department.
