Gunshot victim in critical condition, police say

A man critically injured from a gunshot wound or wounds was found Tuesday morning on Broadway south of downtown Fort Wayne, city police said.

Police said in a statement they responded to the 1800 block of Broadway about 6:15 a.m. on a report of an unconscious man.

Officers arriving at the scene discovered the man appeared to be suffering from one or more gunshot wounds, the statement said.

It said paramedics took the man to a local hospital in serious condition, but a doctor at the hospital downgraded his condition to critical.

Detectives were interviewing witnesses Tuesday morning. No arrests were immediately made.
