The District 10 (Fort Wayne) team completed pool play with a 4-0 record after beating Cumberland, N.J. 11-2 Monday in the Big League World Series in Easley, S.C.
Fort Wayne advanced to the semifinals of the series and will play South Carolina for the United States championship at 7:30 tonight. The local team beat South Carolina 1-0 in its first game of pool play last week. The winner of tonight's game advances to the World Series championship game on Wednesday against the International champion. Puerto Rico and Latin America are playing for the international championship.l
Elliott Ford and Keaston Jackson led Fort Wayne's 12-hit attack Monday. Ford had three hits and two RBIs while Jackson hit a home run.
Others collecting hits for Fort Wayne were Charlie Sipe, Brice Urschel, Evan VanSumeren, Matt Kaplanis, Will Coursen-Carr, Grant Wilson, Brandon Soat and Austin Plasterer. Coursen-Carr had two RBIs.
Jared Harvey picked the win on the mound for Fort Wayne – pitching five innings and allowing one run. Harvey allowed three hits and struck out four. Brandon Soat pitched the final two innings and allowed a run.
