ABOITE BAPTIST CHURCH, 5700 Homestead Road, will hold an AWANA carnival 5-8 p.m. Aug. 19. Free admission, with free food and games. Parents can learn about the AWANA program, which helps children grow spiritually in Christ's teachings.

BETHANY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2435 Engle Road, will have a block party with free food and games 4-8 p.m. Sunday.

CALVARY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 6301 Winchester Road, will hold a one-day vacation Bible school, for preschool-high school-aged kids, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Aug. 11. Special sessions will be held for middle and high schoolers. Lunch and snacks will be provided. Information: 747-9218.

HEARTLAND CHURCH, 1025 Vance Ave., will present a musical about the life of Christ, “The Twelve,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and Aug. 10-11 and at 2 p.m. Sunday. HUNTINGTON UNIVERSITY, Huntington, will hold Fandana Festival Aug. 10-11. Chris Tomlin is special guest performer, with more than 50 bands performing on multiple stages. Tickets available at www.fandanafestival.com.

LIFETREE CAFÉ, New Ground Coffee Co., 5925 N. Clinton St. in Washington Square, will discuss whether the Bible is real, reliable and relevant at 7 p.m. today.

LIFETREE CAFÉ, Brew Ha! 122 S. Jefferson St., Ossian, will discuss how hard it is to be healthy 6-7 p.m. Sunday.

TRINITY ENGLISH LUTHERAN CHURCH, 405 W. Wayne St., will have Shining Lights summer arts workshop attendees will present “What's up Zak?” at 7 p.m. Aug. 22 in the church's theater.

UNITY WORSHIP CENTER, 1223 E. Wayne St., will hold a summer vacation Bible school seminar 6-8 p.m. Thursday-Friday and will celebrate its second-year anniversary at 4 p.m. Sunday.

VICTORY NOLL CENTER, 1900 W. Park Drive, Huntington, will hold weekend retreats for women military veterans Sept. 28-30. Cost is $10. A year-long program, “Foundations of Christian Spirituality: Entering the New Gate,” presenting an opportunity for a reflective personal and transformative process to those desiring a deeper life in spirit and Christian life, takes place 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Thursdays, August-May.
