Alleged gunman held in shooting

He waited near an alley on the south side of Pontiac Street with a handgun.

When he spotted a tan sport utility vehicle coming by, he took aim and squeezed the trigger, firing off five to six rounds that hit two men inside the truck.

Then he ran.

That occurred Saturday night, and now police have arrested a Fort Wayne man they say is the shooter.

Breon Lamar Scott, 24, of the 3200 block of River Forest Drive, was booked into Allen County Jail on two felony counts of battery and two felony counts of criminal recklessness Tuesday in connection with the shooting.

He’s being held on $25,000 bond.

The two men who were hit by bullets in the SUV told police they saw Scott aim his gun and fire at them, according to an Allen Superior Court probable cause affidavit.

One man was hit in the upper back, while the other was hit in the leg. They were taken to a hospital in good condition. The court documents make no mention of a motive in the shooting.
