WEST LAFAYETTE – Lewis Jackson hit a three-point shot to give Gene Keady's Team Black a 73-70 win over Matt Painter's Team Gold in the first Purdue basketball alumni game.

Jackson might have been an unlikely candidate for the game-winner, since his team included Troy Lewis and Brian Cardinal, but he used a screen and nailed the shot from the right wing Saturday at Mackey Arena.

“If you're on Gene Keady's side, it's always important to win,” Todd Mitchell said. “It was a good call and a good finish.”

After the alumni game, the current Boilermakers scrimmaged. D.J. Byrd scored a game-high 17 points and freshman guard Ronnie Johnson scored 13 and led the team with four assists.
