The inaugural Wine and Beer Festival benefiting Junior Achievement is 2-6 p.m. this Saturday at Headwaters Park West downtown.
Cap n' Cork and Mad Anthony Brewing Company are sponsoring the event, in which Indiana wineries and craft brewers will offer taste-testing and share their knowledge of their crafts.
Food vendors will offer tastings and specialty foods for purchase. The New Orleans-themed event includes jambalaya, beignets and smoked Gouda dip among other offerings. Wine and beer can be purchased by the glass. You can bring a camp chair or blanket to relax on the park grounds.
Tickets are $25 per person in advance or $30 at the gate. Designated driver tickets are $15 per person. Tickets are available at Cap n' Cork locations, Mad Anthony Brewing Company, 1109 Taylor St., Junior Achievement, 601 Noble Drive, and by going to www.jani.org.
Proceeds benefit Junior Achievement of Northern Indiana, a partnership of more than 3,000 educators and 5,000 adults focused on educating young people on how to succeed in a global economy. JA's in-school, JA BizTown and JA Finance Park economic education programs focus on three areas: work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy.
