A North Webster man was back behind bars after being out of the Kosciusko County Jail for only five hours, accused of beating his former host.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called Thursday evening to a fight at the Ponderosa Housing Addition southeast of North Webster, according to a written statement issued by the department.

It said deputies and North Webster police officers arrived shortly before 6:30 p.m. in the 9500 block of  Ponderosa Drive and spoke with Johnny Isaac, 52, who sustained facial injuries.

Isaac told officers that Dakota Marcus Meade, 20, came to his mobile home trailer after being released from jail Thursday. Isaac said that Meade was no longer welcome at his home, where he had lived before being arrested on Feb. 8 on a theft/conversion charge in Kosciusko County.

Isaac said that his wife had gone inside to retrieve Meade’s belongings as the argument turned physical. He told police he was taken to the ground by Meade and struck several times in the head, the statement said.

A count canine unit tracked Meade into a nearby wooded area. He was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail and preliminarily arrested on charges of battery. The Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office set Meade’s bond at $500.
