Concordia, Bishop Dwenger, Snider and Bishop Luers all went 2-0 on the opening day of the SAC volleyball tournament Thursday at North Side.
The defending champion Cadets beat South Side 25-14, 25-10 and Northrop 25-21 and 25-5.
Snider, which was the top seed and the 2011 tourney runner-up, won over Wayne 25-14, 25-14 and North Side 25-21, 25-18.
Dwenger beat Northrop 25-14, 25-14 and South Side 25-12, 25-12, and Luers took out North Side 25-17, 25-13 and Wayne 25-8, 25-24.
The tournament continues Saturday at 9 a.m.
DEKALB 176, EAST NOBLE 176: The Barons won on a tiebreaker over the Knights at Noble Hawk.
The fifth-player tiebreaker had DeKalb with a 48 and East Noble a 52. Katie Sharp was medalist with a 32, while DeKalb’s Kristen Konieczki had a 39.
HOMESTEAD 175, COLUMBIA CITY 198: Emily Olson’s 42 was medalist for the Spartans at Eagle Glen.
CARROLL 1, BLACKHAWK CHRISTIAN 0: Matthew Gumbert scored the match’s lone goal in the road win.
LEO 3, DEKALB 0: Brittany Miller had 16 kills to lead the host Lions in straight sets, winning 25-19, 25-16, 25-15. Kara Eck had 11 kills for the Barons.
