Of course you love being a mom, but wouldn't it be nice to treat yourself to a night out without the kids, but with other moms?
This Thursday is your chance at the Mom's Night Out event, 5:30-9 p.m. at Ceruti's Summit Park. The event is sponsored by Moms.FortWayne.com and Fort Wayne Newspapers.
Here's what you can look forward to:
•A Moms About Moms panel discussion featuring Jennifer Blomquist, mother of six (including two sets of twins!) and reporter at TV station WPTA; Lisa Compton, mother of three and owner of Second Steps LLC and president of Sensorycritters.com; and Kathie Green, mother of four, president at Fort Wayne Area PTA Council, co-president at Northrop High School PTSA, and elected to Mom's Congress.
Barb Richards of WAJI, Majic 95.1-FM, will moderate the panel.
The women will talk about balancing family, home, spouse and work, as well as other issues specific to moms. Toward the end of the discussion, audience members will be able to ask questions. The discussion panel starts at 7:30 p.m.
Also at the event:
•Shopping: Vendors will be selling jewelry, photography, makeup, clothing, gifts, health-care products and more. You can get a free, five-minute massage provided by Massage Envy, Professor Wellness and Fitness Center, and Ravenscroft.
•Food: A noodle bar will be set up, as well as hors d'oeuvres, a chocolate fountain, coffee, beverages and a cash bar.
•Entertainment: Local musician Sunny Taylor will play live jazz in the courtyard.
•Fun: A photo booth will be set up so you can take pictures with friends.
•A fashion show: Local clothing company Matilda Jane Clothing will present a Mommy and Me fashion show at 6:30 p.m.
•Freebies: The first 500 moms will get a complimentary gift bag from Vera Bradley with a Von Maur garden tote, a planner, coupons, an umbrella and more inside.
The event has been specifically scheduled for just after most schools start so moms can have a night to relax after all the hustle and bustle of getting ready for school, said Kathy Colclesser, Fort Wayne Newspapers retail advertising director.
At the event door, prizes will be given away about every half hour from 5:30 until 9 pm.
“For the past four years, I've been incredibly proud to be part of this event, as every woman who comes in leaves with a smile on their face,” Colclesser said.
