A man was in critical condition after being shot multiple times this morning.
The incident took place around 3:02 a.m., according to a news release from the Fort Wayne Police Department. Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of East Wayne Street to investigate a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found a man who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
Paramedics ruled the man to be in serious condition prior to transport to a local hospital. The man's identity was not released, but he is 30 years old, according to the release. The man's condition was downgraded to critical at the hospital.
Preliminary investigation indicates the man was walking when he was fired upon, the release said. The man was struck at least twice by gunfire; witnesses reported seeing a Cadillac, either beige or silver, leaving the area.
Officers reportedly found a firearm near the scene while searching for evidence. No arrests have been made and no descriptions of possible suspects have been released.
The incident remains under investigation by the police department and the Allen County Prosecutor's Office.
