A motorist and his passenger were injured early Sunday when their vehicle left the roadway and struck a garage in Brimfield, according to Noble County deputies.

The driver, Cledith Slone, and his passenger, Paula Francis, both of Kentucky, were transported to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne. Information on their conditions and extent of injuries was not immediately available.

Deputies said the 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse was traveling west on U.S. 6 near Lincoln Street about 12:30 a.m. Sunday, when it crossed over the eastbound lane and left the roadway. The car hit a 16-foot aluminum boat and its trailer before striking a garage, damaging a lawn tractor that was inside the garage.

A criminal investigation is pending results from the hospital, deputies said.
