Death of man in home investigated

Police are investigating the death of a 62-year-old man at a home on the near-northeast side of Fort Wayne.

Detectives do not know how he died or whether foul play was involved, said officer Raquel Foster, a city police spokeswoman.

Medics were sent about 1:50 p.m. Sunday to an apartment house in the 1500 block of Bayer Avenue, between Sallie and Tennessee avenues.

Foster said the medics were not able to determine the man's cause of death, so police were notified.

A neighbor, who lives in another apartment in the house, had gone to check on the man and found him dead, Foster said.

The man lived alone, and as far as police know, he was last seen alive Friday afternoon, she said.

His name was not released.
