The Allen County Solid Waste Management District's annual Tox-Away Day will be 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Saturday at International Truck and Engine parking lot, 2911 Meyer Road. The event is open only to Allen County residents.

Materials accepted include toxic household cleaners, health & beauty products, batteries, lawn chemicals, pool chemicals, oil-based paints, paint thinners, automotive products, mercury items, fluorescent light bulbs, propane tanks and fire extinguishers.

Materials not accepted include latex paint, explosives, radioactive material, steel drums, infectious waste and steel drums. The waste district notes that latex paint can be dried in open air, then disposed of in household garbage.

Waste district officials urge residents not to mix products or remove their labels. Products should be delivered to the collection site in their original containers. Officials say “minimal” fees apply.
