About 3 a.m. Sunday, city police and paramedics responded to Piere's nightclub on the city's northeast side for a reported stabbing. While paramedics took the injured man to a local hospital, the ambulance and car following the ambulance carrying friends and family were shot at by a drive-by shooter, reports Fort Wayne police.
The drive-by shooter's car was described as a white car with tinted windows. All three people inside the family's car were shot, and that car stopped at a gas station on the corner of Coldwater and Washington Center roads. A paramedic in the ambulance was injured when broken glass, as a result of the drive-by, cut his arm.
The drive-by shooting car was found by an Allen County sheriff's unit later and the driver of the white car sped away. Law enforcement ended up catching the vehicle downtown at Fairfield Avenue and West Jefferson Boulevard. All four occupants of the car were arrested, police said.
