A Fort Wayne woman died in an apparent single-car crash Thursday in northeast Allen County, bringing the county just shy of 30 traffic deaths for 2012, authorities said.

The Allen County Sheriff's Department and Coroner's Office responded to the scene of a reported single-vehicle crash at about 11:40 a.m. in the 15500 block of St. Joe Road, the coroner's office said in a statement.

Melody Ann Postell, 46, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the coroner's office, Postell was wearing her seat belt, and the vehicle's airbags had deployed.

Postell's death marks Allen County's 29th traffic fatality this year, the coroner's office said. Allen County traffic-related deaths in 2012 have outpaced any year since at least 2005.

Thursday's crash remains under investigation by the sheriff's department and coroner's office.
