Joseph S. Sands, of the 1600 block of Tennessee Avenue, was handed six years as part of a plea agreement in which he pleaded guilty to one count of child molesting. He received an extra year in prison for pleading guilty to criminal recklessness with a weapon in a separate case.
According to court documents, Sands had sex with the teenage girl after she ran away from home.
She was found at his apartment in April and she told others in May she was dating Sands, documents said.
A judge gave Sands 140 days’ credit for time served in the Allen County Jail while his case made its way through the legal system.
