Sesame-Honey Chicken Stir-Fry

Level: Easy

Time: 25 minutes

What we thought: There are two things I loved about this recipe, one thing I liked and one thing I’d change. The loves: It’s a quick meal to throw together after work and it uses a lot of items I already had in my pantry. If there’s one thing I hate about a recipe, it’s having to go buy five new things I am not likely to use until I go through a pantry purge. Even better – the like part of the equation – is that the dish had a lot of flavor without being overwhelming, making it a fine choice for a family of picky eaters.

The only problem I did encounter was finding some of the ingredients. The recipe calls for Bird’s Eye stir-fry vegetables, which I couldn’t find at my admittedly small neighborhood Kroger nor at Walmart, and I substituted a store brand. Black sesame seeds also weren’t on the shelf, and I just went with a traditional variety.

For next time: I am not a fan of white rice, and it really killed the dish for me. I think it would be great with some spaghetti noodles stir-fried in for a lo mein-style dish. I’ll also add more vegetables as the 16-ounce bag seemed skimpy.
