INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Colts long snapper Matt Overton had planned his hair "razing" gesture even before coach Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia. But it seemed even more fitting after the news.

Overton was among a handful of Colts who were already schedule to visit the IU Health Simon Cancer Center on Tuesday as a pick-me-up gesture for patients. Overton, who has had two relatives stricken with breast cancer, decided to have his head shaved in support while there.

Once news of Pagano's cancer became public Monday, Overton's resolve to go through with the gesture was heightened.

“Unfortunately, we weren't able to see coach Pagano, but we know he's in the right place and in the right hands over there,” Overton said Wednesday at the Colts complex. “It's inspiring to see those people and the courage they have with the battles they face every day.”

Overton had his head shaved by two patients at the center, with Colts tight end Dwayne Allen finishing the job. Overton went to a barber later Tuesday to smooth out the rough edges.

“It was a great experience for all of us in light of what's going on this week with Coach,” Overton said. “We're in this together and this is just one of those things that has brought us closer as a team and a family, and we're here behind him all the way.”

Watch the accompanying as Overton talks about his visit to the cancer center, his shaved head and the team's support for Pagano.
