The Allen County Board of Commissioners announced that a ribbon cutting ceremony to signal completion of the Spring Street Bridge project will be held at 4 p.m. Friday. The ceremony will take place on the east side of the bridge. The public is invited to attend.

A portion of the street has been closed since May while the Allen County Highway Department and the City of Fort Wayne rehabilitated the bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad; reconstructed and widened Spring Street between Sprunger and Steup avenues to add turn lanes; placed signals at the intersection of Leesburg Road and Spring; and installed sidewalks along each side of the street.

Total cost of the project is around $2.27 million, with 80 percent of the funding coming from the federal government.
