I-69 reopening after crash near GM

MORE ARTICLES

FORT WAYNE – A crash about 9:45 a.m. Tuesday closed both  southbound lanes of Interstate 69 for about two hours near the Fort Wayne General Motors plant.

Indiana State Police are investigating the crash involving a tractor-trailer rig, and said the truck left Interstate 469 at a speed too fast for the exit ramp, causing the load to shift.

The rig skidded across the southbound lanes of I-69 and then the trailer flopped on its side, blocking both southbound lanes, state police said.

The driver, who is from Fort Wayne, had minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital, according to a statement issued by the Fort Wayne post.

All southbound lanes were open by 2:35 p.m., according to the latest alert from the state police.
