Allen County prosecutors formally charged a Fort Wayne man Tuesday in a home invasion at a northeast-side apartment after finding his print on the television there, according to Allen Superior Court documents.
Simeon J. Walker, 21, of the 1400 block of Greene Street, is accused of being one of three men who entered the apartment last month with guns and demanded money before ultimately leaving with a phone, court documents said.
He's been charged with one count of felony robbery.
A man and woman who lived at the apartment said they had received sizable checks for college tuition just before the robbery attempt. They said they did not know Walker and that his fingerprints should not be on the television, court records said.
Investigators caught up with Walker at Allen County Jail, where he's being held in a separate case. According to court documents, he admitted going into the apartment with two other men but said he did not wield a gun.
The other men – whom he identified as "No" and "Bsmack" – had guns, Walker told police.
He smoked marijuana with the two men and they went to get more pot from a man who owed one of them money. While inside the apartment, the men pulled guns and demanded money, Walker told police.
Walker claimed he did not know that the robbery was going to occur, according to court documents.
