Five people escaped unhurt from a house fire early Thursday morning on Fort Wayne’s southeast side.

Firefighters responded just after 4:30 a.m. to 7326 Peerless Drive, where they found “minor” smoke and flames coming from the roof of a one-story house, the Fort Wayne Fire Department said in a news release. Crews brought the fire under control in about 19 minutes, the release said.

A neighbor had woken five adults who were inside the house and alerted them to the fire, the release said. All five got out of the house before firefighters arrived, according to the release. No injuries were reported. The fire caused minor damage to the house.
