A dump truck leaves a load of gravel next to the pool construction site Tuesday afternoon at the Jorgensen Family YMCA. Work is in full swing on a planned aquatic complex, which is scheduled to open next summer. The hole for the new pool was being lined with gravel.

It has been a week since plans for the $1.8 million project were announced. The new outdoor facility will feature six 25-foot lap lanes, beach entry with a splash-zone play area, toddler pool with a Cascades Discovery Fountain, zip line, snack shop and easy access from both inside and outside the Y facility at 10313 Aboite Center Road.
