Taylor U. to dedicate new $41 million science complex

Taylor University will dedicate its new $41.4 million Euler Science Complex during a ceremony at 4 p.m. Friday in the complex's atrium, a university news release said.

The event, which is open to the public, will take place during Taylor's 2012 Homecoming weekend, which school officials expect to draw nearly 1,000 alumni to the campus in Upland for reunions and special events, the news release said.

The 137,000-square-foot Euler Science Complex is the largest single building project in Taylor's history, both physical size and cost, the news release said. The building's namesakes, the late Greg and Mary Fran Euler, were longtime friends of the university.

Taylor officials believe the Euler building will receive a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating from the U.S. Green Building Council because of its use of renewable solar, wind and geothermal energy, the news release said.

The construction manager for the project was GDH LLC, of Indianapolis, a subsidiary of The Hagerman Group of Fort Wayne. The architectural designer was The Troyer Group from South Bend.
